Charles Allis and Villa Terrace Art Museums Name New Executive Director

 

An experienced and highly successful museum marketing and fundraising executive has been selected to become the executive director of the Charles Allis and Villa Terrace Art Museums. Following a search of many months, the Museums’ Board of Directors has appointed Elly M. Pick, who has served in senior positions in Milwaukee, Madison and most recently in West Bend, to take over the leadership of the two art museums, effective May 1, 2008.

 

Pick, 58, has been director of development and marketing for the Museum of Wisconsin Art for the past two years, boosting support over 40 percent for its annual operating budget. She increased membership by 25 percent from her arrival and launched the museum’s first planned giving program.  Additionally, she made a positive impact on the community by founding the Ethnic Cultural Alliance that brought for the first time to West Bend, diverse programming such as the upcoming Fiesta Cultural Hispana on May 3, 2008.

 

Her family has served in distinguished roles in art and culture – her late uncle was Professor John Pick of Marquette University – and part of her family founded the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend.

 

Pick has a B.A. in journalism from the University of WisconsinMadison, is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and an Accredited Public Relations Professional (APR). She is a graduate of Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin. Pick currently serves on the board of Easter Seals of Wisconsin and is a member of the UW Women’s Philanthropy Council. She is the past chair of the board of Penfield Children’s Center and past president of Tempo. A native of Rochester, MN, she lives with her father, Dr. James W. Pick in Shorewood.
